Tapcon is a brand name owned by a company called ITW Buildex. Many people call all concrete screws Tapcons because the name Tapcon has become associated with any type of screw that taps threads into masonry. Companies manufacture self-tapping masonry screws and label them with their own brand names. Many self-tapping masonry screws are manufactured overseas and are not American-made like the Tapcon brand, which is made in the USA. The tapcon brand masonry screw is the original self-tapping concrete screw that is American-made and sold online through Concrete Fastening Systems, Inc. at www.confast.com.
